The best laid plans....

Aren't always the best.... but can they work out even better?

I was packed and ready, two laps at the Reservoir before I had to pick up the kiddos at school. But then I find out I have to take Noah to a morning podiatrist appointment then drop him off at school.

No problem, if I stay on task, I can still get in the 16 or so miles I yearned for on such a sweet day (the weather has been unbelievable). Drop the rug rat off at school and beat feet home to change and load up the Goblin onto the car.

Wait, I have an e-mail I need to check... then a box of bike goodies come FedEx, gotta open that up and look.

Ok, I'm a bit behind schedule, but if I hammer, I'm still good to be back at the school for the early pick up.

Nice pace up the hill out onto the trails and feeling good... this will be THE ride of the month.

Then it happened... the dreaded, "Hey, this is my first time out here do you know the trails?/ mind if I tag along?" rider. "Dude" I'm thinking to myself "I'm out here to hammer, you can't keep up"

So what do I do? I can't ignore him and just ride by, that would be just plain rude. Try to explain it quick and leave him fending for himself? Bad juju....

"Sure you can tag along." You know, it still ended up being a great ride. The weather was too nice to just blow through the woods like that and not take it all in. Bob was awesome, kept up (in fact probably did better than me in some spots) and maybe I found a riding partner during the week. And he loved the fact he was finally able to piece together the loop out there.

Nothing cooler than helping another rider out.

It was a great time... and if I stay on task, I can hammer two laps out there before work tomorrow....

Let's get things rolling here....

Well I gotta be honest, I still have no idea where all this is going. Having a hard time figuring out which way to proceed from this point on. I have some events I plan to do to raise some cash and awareness on important issues but what do I do to blog about? That the conundrum.

So here's what I plan on doing. I'm just going to ramble on from this point on and we'll see what sticks.

Still plan on the "Ride Your A$$ Off" but just trying to get thru the red tape the state throws at you. It shouldn't be this hard. Once I get the OK, it's all about sponsors, prizes, food and beer (maybe). Stay tuned.

Got a GoPro HD video camera from Santa but my files on the thing got messed up so I can't edit them. I think I need to call some one in who knows how to set up computers and just get us going here... If you know any one, let me know.

Played around with my Garmin Forerunner and got it online. Strava.com has a fun website that let's you track, post and compete with others on line..here's what I did yesterday...

"Training" is going ok... descent quality, but I need to work on my consistency. Story of my life.

Going in for the colonoscopy on Monday, hoping for the best, but ready for the worst.

OK, so this post didn't exactly end up as I hoped.... I'll have to re-tool for next time...

Welcome....

Well it's been a long time coming, but I finally got around to starting a new blog!

To me, ScopeThatColon.Blogspot kind of wore out it's welcome. I've been healthy and really only having regular, unexciting check ups... not much to write about there.
I truly think I can accomplish (and entertain) more with this new blog.

After my fight with cancer, I realized how fortunate I was to have family, friends and a life that allowed me to get better. Not everyone is as lucky. Here's an opportunity to help.

I have a few plans that I'm ironing out to try to make this all interactive. Basic ideas include a place for me to talk about my fundraising plans and goals (and make me more accountable), a platform for friends and family to promote their fundraising events and a place that frankly, I can talk about basically anything that comes across my brain.

Right now all of this is still a work in progress so please be patient and check back often as details emerge on how the different components will come together.

Hop on and join the ride!
